Parent Tips

With daycare-compare.com, you should have no problem narrowing your search in minutes, not days.  While we help you narrow your search, the below tips will help you finalize your search.?

 Step 1: Know your priorities
Would you rather have a daycare near work or home? How far are you willing to drive to find the right daycare? What is your budget? Would you prefer an intimate home daycare or larger daycare center where your child would be around more kids? Would you be willing to bring your own food, diapers, and wipes to save on daycare costs?

Step 2: Search on daycare-compare.com
You can search by address, select daycares side-by-side, and narrow your search in minutes!

Step 3: Visit and Interview the daycare
A phone interview is not sufficient to get a sense of what a daycare is like. Plan to visit the daycare in person and interview them. Ask to see a copy of their license and credentials then double check with a call to your local social services department. Here are some important questions to get you started:

Preliminary Questions: What are your hours? What is your staff to child ratio? How long have you been in business? Who provides the food? Who provides the diapers/wipes? What is your vacation schedule?

Child rearing Questions: How do you choose what food they eat? How is napping handled? What if my child is on a different nap schedule? What is the daily curriculum/activities? How do you discipline the children? How are problem children handled? Has a child ever been dismissed from your daycare? How am I informed about how my child behaved/ate/slept each day?

Ask for past and current references and call them. And remember, choosing a daycare is not a one-time event. If something about the daycare you chose makes you uncomfortable, if your child comes home with unexplained bruises, or the daycare does not feel engaging enough for your child, then look for a new one. In either case, be sure to leave a review on daycare-compare.com.
